Marie Chouinard holds a deeply moving memory of this artist, with whom she had the privilege of collaborating during the creation of the music video Jamais, which she directed in 2014, a memorable encounter between two creative worlds.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones and with all those who continue to be touched by his music.

Montreal, June 12, 2025 – Compagnie Marie Chouinard presents the fifth edition of LA NUIT ENSOLEILLÉE, an overnight dance performance celebrating the summer solstice, from the evening of June 20 to the morning of June 21, at the company’s studio in Montreal.

For its fifth edition, LA NUIT ENSOLEILLÉE will bring together 18 dancers: Michael Baboolal, Adrian W.S. Batt, Justin Calvadores, Tony Chong, Paige Culley, Rose Gagnol, Valeria Galluccio, Motrya Kozbur, Luigi Luna, Scott McCabe, Isabelle Poirier, Carol Prieur, Sophie Qin, Celeste Robbins, Clémentine Schindler, Ana Van Tendeloo, Lucie Vigneault, and Jérôme Zergès. The performance begins at sunset (8:47 p.m.) and ends at sunrise (5:05 a.m.). The dancers will be accompanied by guest DJs YAYA LA BEA and MINZI ROBERTA, who will perform live music sessions during the first 20 minutes of every hour (9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., etc.).

Initiated in 2011, LA NUIT ENSOLEILLÉE by Marie Chouinard is a durational performance where the audience is invited to sit freely on cushions arranged around a circular stage. Spectators may stay for the entire performance or come and go as they please—some rest, some return before sunrise, all are carried by the gentleness and intensity of the celebration. Throughout the night, the dancers remain fully immersed in their bodies, sensations, and perceptions. At sunrise, they share a plate of fruit with the audience.

The COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD is proud to be carbon neutral. Since 2020, the company has analyzed and offset the carbon footprint of its tours, its productions and its studios. The company supports the Quebec initiative, Carbone boréal, which reforests naturally deserted terrain in the boreal forests north of Lake Saint Jean. These are public lands which are protected by their designation as experimental forests in conjunction with the Quebec Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks. This project is also used for scientific research.
